Carrying positions

Recommendations

0-6 months

The belly-to-belly carrying position, where the baby is crouched, is the most suitable carrying position for a newborn until at least 4 months. The back should be nicely rounded like in mom's belly, the knees well up and the feet down. You can practice the skin-to-skin technique with a baby of 8 lbs and more, easily and safely. This position provides the comfort needed to develop a sense of emotional security. The squatting position is recognized for its benefits for the development of the baby's bones and joints. Before 6 months of age, it is important to avoid applying tension to the middle of the back. There are several knotting techniques you can perform to perfectly wrap and support your baby in the ideal position for his or her stage of development.

6 months and older

From 6 months onwards and when the baby is sitting up, his spine is strong enough that he no longer needs continuous support in the back. When the baby feels stuck, wants to move or is hot, you can let him or her put out their arms. Simple and easy to do for beginners, we recommend the wrapped cross knot. On the other hand, knots like the kangaroo knot support the newborn's rounded spine to perfection. Check out the videos to see all the options.

Instructions

It is very important to wash your wrap before the first use. The fabric and the different components are handled and transported in several places. We recommend machine washing on the gentle cycle in a garment bag or hand washing in warm water (no rinse soap preferred). Hang to dry and do not iron.

Note that polyester mesh is also called medical mesh as it is used for its breathable and anti-microbial qualities.

The most popular and ergonomic knots for long term use require a regular or extra (size 6 or 7).

The choice of sling size depends on your size, not the baby's size. If you wear large or very large clothes, you will be more comfortable with an extra size (size 7).

We recommend that you limit carrying on the same shoulder and change sides frequently to take the strain off your back. If you opt for the cradle position, it should be done with care as it can increase the risk of suffocation of the baby. Always keep the baby's face visible. If you choose the face-up position with the legs folded in, this requires more care as the baby may be at greater risk of tipping forward.

We recommend using only the positions suggested in the videos: the tummy and hip positions and the kangaroo on the back. For these techniques, you will need a regular or extra size sling.
